Typhoon left at least two dead and 82 others injured
Tokyo (JapanLoad.com): Fitow, deadly Typhoon, moved out to the Sea of Okhotsk Saturday after cutting across Japan, leaving at least two dead and 82 others injured in torrential rains and violent winds, officials said.
According to Japan Meteorological Agency, the typhoon was dwindling into an extra-tropical low pressure when it reached the sea from the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido at around 3:00 pm (0600 GMT). It was still packing winds of up to 72 kilometres (45 miles) per hour as it moved northeast at 35 kilometres (22 miles) per hour, the agency said.
A 76-year-old man was killed in Karuizawa, a resort town north of Tokyo, and a 50-year-old worker died after being buried alive when a landslide hit his dam construction site in the southwestern prefecture of Fukui, officials said. (source: AFP)
